Our busy restaurant is looking for a warm, welcoming, experienced Server with exceptional conversational and organizational skills. In this role, you will greet guests as they enter your section of the restaurant, take their order, and be sure they are served promptly. At the end of their visit, you will be responsible for ringing their order and making change.
Your job is to take great care of our guests by ensuring they are served promptly. You will always handle yourself professionally while seeking to make everyone feel right at home. You will always remember to say, “Thank you for visiting — and come back soon.”
You will communicate effectively with servers, bussers, and guests to ensure tables are promptly cleaned, reset, and filled with new patrons. The Server must be able to carry and lift a minimum of 35 lbs. over their shoulders.
You will spend long hours standing and walking; this is an active role in our restaurant. Despite the fast pace, you will remember who ordered what and facilitate serving in an efficient manner. The Server will also be able to effectively handle the rare customer complaint with aplomb and good will.
You will be impeccably groomed, always pleasant and willing to help guests, servers or staff. As necessary, you will assist in table prep when the restaurant servers are exceptionally busy. Your primary job is to make sure that the customers are happy and return frequently. Smile, make eye contact, and be pleasant at all times.
Responsibilities
- Greeting and thanking guests as they enter and leave your section in a restaurant.
- Answer any questions a customer may have.
- Make sure beverages are provided promptly.
- Recommend wines depending on the meals ordered by guests.
- Remember the specials.
- Able to explain the ingredients and preparation behind each item on the menu to customers.
- Take customer orders.
- Relay orders to the kitchen.
- Moving customers in and out of tables.
- Help with table clean up.
- Carry large, heavy trays of food from the kitchen to the dining tables.
- Remove dirty dishes promptly.
- Prepare checks, take their payments, and cash customers out.
- General duties as needed which could include everything from mopping a spill or other spot cleaning to clearing and setting a table.
